The Scare

May. 16th, 2011 12:01 pm
Greetings and stuff!

Before i get into the serious part of this entry, here is a quiz for you to check out. It's one i just had to take being that I love angels. Of course I always say that I'm definitely an angel. yeah an angel with a halo held up by horns. *smirk*

You Are a Guardian Angel

You care deeply for your friends and family. Like a Guardian angel, you take protecting them seriously.

Besides guarding the ones you love, you have your eye out for all of humankind. You are very compassionate.

You are a natural caretaker, and you are very interested in social justice. You want to make the world better for everyone.

While you are responsible and conscientious, you are also light hearted. You are easygoing and even quite funny.

So, last Thursday I had a bit of a scare. I woke up and felt my heart doing some weird things. it was beating irregularly and skipping beats. At first I was considering ignoring it because it's something my heart does anyhow because of my heart murmur. As I went on in the morning, it wouldn't stop and so I decided that I should probably go in and get it checked out. The heart's nothing to play aroudn with. When I got to the ER, they immediately hooked me up to a heart monitor and did an EKG. They drew some blood so they could check my thyroid and my eletrolytes. They also decided to hook me up to a blood pressure machine and an oxygen thingy on my finger so they could monitor my oxygen levels. yeah I know that was intelligent wasn't it? *blows raspberries at medical words that I can't spell*. Sorry I cna't do anything more mature than that at the moment. Anyway, when all the tests came back, the doctor said that my EKG was Beautiful. No blockages or anything out of the ordinary. He said that my thyroid and my electrolites were both fine and that my heart on the monitor was normal. What he did find however was that my hemoglobin was at a low 6.6 and that they normally like that to be at a 12. He said when it's that low, they normally think of transfusing. This, I already knew. I am anemic and have bene through this before. So they ended up letting me go home with straict orders to take iron everyday to try and bring my hemoglobin back up again. They also hooked me up to a haulter heart monitor, (a portable monitor) over night so they could see what was going on as well. They were going to send that to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN for them to read. I have an appointment on This Wednesday at 9:15 to go and have my hemoglobin checked and hopefully the results of my heart monitor reading from Rochester. If my hemoglobin isn't up to where they want it, they will do a blood transfusion. Come on hemoglobin! Get back up there! I really don't want a blood transfusion, not fun at all. I do believe it is getting better however, yesterday my heart was beating normally again and still is today so that's definitely a good sign.

I have bene thinking lately of going back to visit home. I have bene missing everyone and feel this need to go and see them. I'm not sure if it has to do with my scare or not but I'm definitely going to go and do that sometime real soon. It will be good to get together with my grandmother and my brothers again. And yes, even my mother. LOL! Yes I miss her too.

Well, I suppose I'm at work so I will end this entry for now. I'll be back again when I have something to say. I have bene writing this entry inbetween phone calls and taking reservations.
